Bullet points from tonight’s Supporters’ Club meeting…

Forgive the simple nature of this post, but for those who couldn’t attend tonight’s Supporters’ Club meeting here are the key points:

*Keith Ryder rang the SC (Pete Williams) out of the blue at 6pm this evening to say that due to ‘extreme personal circumstances’ he had been unable to complete the Port Vale takeover deal as yet. He apologised for going AWOL and said he was hoping to complete the deal by the end of the week. (Don’t shoot the messengers…). Administrators Bob Young and Steve Currie, who attended the meeting, said they had had a similar conversation with Mr Ryder

*The administrators are continuing to talk to other parties interested in buying Port Vale but have kept the door open for Mr Ryder at this stage
*Mr Young said the interested parties did not include Mo Chaudry or anyone connected with previous directors of the club
*Mr Young said the administrators had done their sums and were minded to tell the Football League that Port Vale could be run as a going concern (we can complete our fixture list etc.) if we achieve crowds of 5,000 for every home game (800 less than the previous board claimed was needed with the council loan repayment round our necks like a millstone). Last season’s average was 4,800. We have so far sold around 3,000 season tickets
*Season tickets will be posted out this week
*The administrators have agreed that the walk-up prices for Vale games will be what Keith Ryder was/is intending to make them: £20, £15 and £10 (with an extra £1 in Lorne Street). This is cheaper than the administrators originally wanted
*A kit deal has been signed with Vandanel – including a short term shirt sponsorship arrangement
*The Supporters’ Club has spent (or committed to spend) around £15,000 of money donated by fans through collections at the end of last season – on everything from coaches, hotel accommodation for players, players’ meals and grass seeds for the pitch. Just under £15k remains
*The administrator agreed that we could finally erect the Roy Sproson statue (on a match day – date to be arranged) and gave an undertaking that it would remain the property of the Supporters’ Club no matter what
*Investigations into previous directors by both the administrators and Staffordshire Police which may result in civil or criminal proceedings are ongoing
*The Supporters’ Club is working with the club to get the stadium ready for the new season. A variety of jobs have not been done because of the delay to Mr Ryder’s takeover deal. Volunteers are needed urgently for general duties including sweeping up, cleaning seats, painting toilet walls, checking that all seats are correctly numbered, adding season ticket names to seats and possibly helping the ticket office out with preparation and distribution of season tickets. Additionally an appeal has gone out for tradespeople willing to offer services or donate materials to contact the Supporters’ Club directly (Pete Williams – 07522 679886). Volunteers are needed Thursday and Friday, August 9 and 10, from 8am to 4pm, and Saturday, August 11 from 9am to 1pm. Fans can also help out between Monday and Friday of next week between 8am and 4pm.
*The Supporters’ Club asked fans to agree to postpone its AGM in the light of current events (it should have happened later this month) and appealed for volunteers who wished to join the committee to contact Pete Williams on the number above

Thank you to all Vale fans for keeping the faith.
